MBIOSymposium is our annual flagship event, which aims to promote intellectual discourse among the young generation about current issues. Among Malaysians, the routine of engaging with educational material via surface rote learning and regurgitation of materials, with the sole purpose of passing examinations has been ingrained into our learning behaviour. Hence, we aim to change this routine by regularly providing a platform for Malaysian students to gather, engage in discussions and encourage the exchange of ideas to promote critical and innovative thinking which are essential upon entering the workforce.
So far, we had successfully brought MBIOSymposium with different topics in the past few years, and we aim to broaden and update this regular discussion platform in future.

The Fight Against Cancer
2021
In 2021, the MBIOSymposium focused on one of the most popular topics: cancer, discussed the research on cancers as well as the treatment. Esteemed speakers were invited to share invaluable insights from their perspective fields of expertise, with the hopes of educating and inspiring students across Malaysia. This event aimed to provide the students with a more comprehensive understanding of cancer.
We invited a wide range of speakers with different backgrounds, to enhance the discussion in different perspectives.
This year, we also launched a new event: Cancer Research Poster competition. This competition aimed to bring together those interested in cancer research projects. We invited all the undergraduates, postgraduates (masters students), PhD students, Postdocs, and early career researchers working on any area of the Biosciences to participate in the first category: Individual Research Poster Competition. We also invited the pre-university students and undergraduates to participate in another category of the competition: Science Communication Poster Competition.
The posters were scored by our speakers and participants based on visuals and information in the posters, as well as the video presentations given by the poster creators.

In the year of 2020, the emergence of COVID-19 has not just affected public health, but also the economy, environment and media, among many others. A pandemic of this scale has fuelled many unexpected changes in this rapidly transforming world, affecting the entire global population including students. MBIOSymposium: A Global Pandemic aimed to discuss the different aspects and fields affected by the recent COVID-19 outbreak, not confined to Bioscience-related topics. Esteemed speakers were invited to share invaluable insights from their respective fields of expertise, with the hopes of educating and inspiring students across Malaysia. The primary aim of this event was to provide Malaysian students with a more comprehensive understanding of the local and global impact of COVID-19.
